The Era of Active Learning (State of Sonora)

Dr. Rangel Sostmann’s digital course represents a joint initiative between ASU and the Sonoran secretary of education and culture. ASU has delivered three cohorts of the “The Era of Active Learning” course, the third cohort was delivered to over 600 Sonora educators and the second with close to 900 Sonoran educators from 10 different education sub-systems. Dr. Rangel Sostmann guides course participants to develop blended and distance learning models using platforms and active and adaptive learning concepts. When he first developed his online course to train teachers to better integrate technology in their classrooms, he didn’t imagine that he would launch the course in the middle of a global pandemic. The pandemic was starting when he welcomed the first cohort of more than 60 teachers from Sonora to the course, the importance of its content was no longer theoretical. Due to its digital delivery and accessibility through mobile phones, the course continues to help the state transition to modernize the teaching and learning process and remote learning.
