English for Odontology Students

Two cohorts of undergraduate and graduate students with UABC’s School of Odontology, Tijuana Campus took part in a program to improve their English for their future careers. The students met twice weekly via Zoom and worked on assignments asynchronously through the Canvas platform. The curriculum included questions and techniques to gather information from patients, learning to explain procedures to patients, comparing and contrasting dental products and procedures, writing professional emails and pronouncing multisyllabic technical terms. The program was so successful that it was revised and expanded for students of nursing at UABC’s Mexicali campus.
