Energy Decision Center for Mexico (Mexico City Campus)

Mexico passed into law an energy reform that allows the country, among other things, the possibility to access new sources of energy. Examples are shale gas exploration, deep-water oil reserves, and an increased use of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and biomass.

ASU’s Decision Theater and Monterrey Tech in Mexico City are collaborating to establish an Energy Decision Center for Mexico. This Center is designed to support energy decision makers to analyze different energy policies.

The Center includes the development of a mathematical model that represents the energy sector, visualizations of the effect that different policy options can cause, and the infrastructure required. The model development is in progress and includes 10 interconnected modules of the different energy sectors.

Mexico's Ministry of Energy (SENER) and Mexico’s National Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) have supported financially this Energy Center.
