COIL Type Initiative

The Collaborative International Online Learning Type Initiative (COIL-type), is a program between the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California and ASU, and seeks to establish cross-border administrative and academic collaboration between students and faculty. With the intent of participating in the “Internationalization from Home” program promoted by Mexico’s National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions and the U.S. Embassy in Mexico, UABC and ASU organize a series of binational virtual conferences to expose students and faculty to their counterpart’s socioeconomic context and culture. The objective is to foster better cross-cultural understanding. Four sessions on topics such as tourism, community based learning, binational cooperation, and transborder issues have taken place since 2021 and more are expected.
