ASU contributes to U.S.-Mexico High-Level Economic Dialogue
A major binational dialogue that previously led to significant business, infrastructure and environmental initiatives took place in Mexico City Sept. 12. ASU was the only U.S. university that participated in the 2nd annual U.S.- Mexico High-Level Economic Dialogue. President Joe Biden and Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador “relaunched” HLED in 2021, according to the White House . The dialogue serves as a “platform for the United States and Mexico to leverage their strong economic integration to foster regional prosperity, expand job creation, promote investment in our people, and reduce inequality and poverty.” Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, and other U.S. senior leaders chaired the meeting in partnership with senior Mexican counterparts, including Esteban Moctezuma , Mexico’s Ambassador to the U.S. Kevin McGinnis, ASU Office of University Affairs managing director, represented ASU. “I made the case for a new semiconductor workforce public-private partnership that would bring together government, industry, and academic institutions,” McGinnis said. “I believe it was well received and ASU looks forward to working with partners in the United States and Mexico to train the semiconductor workforce of the future for all of North America.”
